You know what I'm thankful for? Lot's of shit. Real shit. Like, all that stuff that you're supposed to be thankful for. Family, health, that stuff, ya know? But you know what I'm thankful for beyond that? I'm thankful that several millinia ago, some fuckin' genius figured out how to manipulate vibrations in a mathematical way to construct a grid of sound. And then built an entire language out of it. I'm thankful that summbitch put it to use and created music. I'm also thankful that guys like Les Paul came around and revolutionized the guit-fiddle. I'm thankful for the 4 lads from Liverpool (The Beatles) that made everything go fuckin' nuts. I'm glad the 4 lads from Birmingham (Black Sabbath) came around and made everything go fuckin' metal.
What I'm saying here is; music is fascinating, and it makes my braingoo get all squishy, and vibe out with warm fuzzies. Even the dark, heavy, brutal shit. Especially the dark, heavy, brutal shit.
That's what I'm thankful for.
Because, really, music has always been here. Even before we were. It will be here long after we're gone. Music is eternal. We just happened to be lucky enough to recognize it, and smart enough to find the methods that give it it's voice.
So, thanks to the cavemen and women that beat rocks with sticks, and blew flutes of bone. Without you, I would never have had the pleasure of seeing so many live bands (spanning from Manhattan Transfer to Cannibal Corpse), that I can't even remember all of them.
Now, go eat your turkey, put on some Ella and go down for the count.
Happy Thanksgiving you filthy animals!
